1st B737MAX for Allegiant breaks cover
On 18 March 2024, ca350 captured the first Boeing B737MAX for Allegiant Air at Seattle-Boeing Field (WA), while it was getting ready for its functional flight check. The aircraft is a B737-8200 and carries the registration N810MG (68001).
Allegiant ordered 50 B737MAXs in January 2022, consisting of 30 B737-7s and 20 B737-8200s. Originally, the airline had planned to take delivery of its first MAX in 2023 but due to the issues with Boeing this has been delayed to this year. The plan was to have 34 MAXs in the fleet by the end of this year but this will now, likely, be at most twelve.
The airline is planning to base its first B737-8200s in Florida at Punta Gorda, Orlando-Sandford, and St. Petersburg. Allegiant hopes to launch commercial flights with its new aircraft in August 2024.
Today, Allegiant's fleet is a sole Airbus-fleet, made-up of 34 A319s and 92 A320s.
