1st B787 for Lufthansa painted
Lufthansa has shared a picture of its first B787-9 fully painted. The aircraft will become D-ABPA (62730) and will be named Berlin. Delivery is expected later this year but is subject to Boeing getting the approval from the FAA to resume B787-deliveries. In total, the airline is expecting to welcome five B787-9s to the fleet in 2022.
This particular Dreamliner is not a new airframe and already flew for the very first time in August 2019. It was originally intended to go to Hainan Airlines and later Vistara.
Earlier this month, the Lufthansa Group ordered seven additional B787-9s, taking the total number ordered to 32. The first five have been allocated to Lufthansa and it's expected that a few will also end up with other airlines in the Group. The first destination that Lufthansa has announced it will fly their Dreamliner to is Toronto.
