Air Canada secures additional B737-8s
On 2 July 2024, Air Canada announced it has secured an agreement with lessor BOC Aviation for additional B737-8s. In total, the deal is for eight aircraft that will be delivered in 2024. After some modification, the aircraft are planned to enter commercial service in 2025.
Initially, the eight will be operated in a single class economy lay-out until they are reconfigured to "fully match the onboard experience our customers enjoy in Air Canada's narrow-body, two-cabin standard at a later date".
With this lease-agreement, the number of MAX8s in Air Canada's-fleet will grow to 49. Next to the MAX, the airline operates 33 Airbus A220-300s, five A319s, eighteen A320s, seventeen A321s, 20 A330-300s, eight B767-300Fs, six B777-200LRs, nineteen B777-300ERs, eight B787-8s, and 31 B787-9s.
