Air Legend 2020 cancelled
Bad news for the European warbird fans: Air Legend 2020, which was to take place at the airport of Melun-Villaroche (Paris, France) on 12 and 13 September has been cancelled.
For several months the organisation had high hopes that this airshow could well be organised, as one of the very few that had not been forced to cancel. But on 11 August 2020, the French government announced the extension of the ban on gatherings of more than 5,000 people until 30 October.
With the backing of a ‘COVID plan’, the organisation submitted a request for exemption and authorisation to hold the event. But the exemption was not granted by the prefecture of Seine-et-Marne. The reasons given for this refusal are: ‘mixing of the population with visitors from beyond the department of Seine-et-Marne’, ‘difficulty in setting up traffic circuits that do not allow going back’, ‘no guarantee of sufficient space between visitors in the demonstration area’.
The 2020 tickets already purchased are automatically valid for 2021. However, those who request it may receive a refund. Preparations for the 2021 edition have already started, with some great surprises already on the programme!
