Airbus on pole position for Jet Airways-order

The Economic Times of India and Bloomberg are reporting that Airbus is on pole position to win an order for relaunched Jet Airways. According to the news outlets, the order is for up to 50 aircraft and would consist of Airbus A220s and A320neo-family aircraft. A final decision, however, hasn't been taken and the airline is stressing that discussions with lessors, Airbus, Boeing and also Embraer have not been concluded.

Jet Airways 2.0 secured its Air Operator's Certificate at the end of May 2022 after conducting proving flights with its first aircraft, Boeing B737-800 VT-SXE (34802). In the coming weeks, the airline will announce its plans for the coming period, including its choice of aircraft.

Today, Jet Airways' fleet consists of the sole B737-800 mentioned but officially the airline also still owns two other B737-800s, a single B737-900 and five B777-300ERs. It's unclear what the plans are for these aircraft.
