Alaska Airlines unveils Horizon-retrojet
On 18 November, Embraer delivered a new ERJ175 to Horizon Air, featuring the airline's original 1980s-livery. The aircraft, N652MK (17000929) will be the carrier's 31th ERJ175.
Currently, Horizon Air's fleet also has a retro-liveried DHC-8-400 (N421QX, 4149). However, with the DHC-8s planned to be retired by the airline by the end of 2023, the airline wanted to have a new aircraft to display the Horizon-heritage.
Horizon Air was founded in 1981 and acquired by Alaska Airlines in 1986. Until 2011 it operated as a separate brand but is since then operating as a capacity production carrier for mother Alaska Airlines, flying in full Alaska Airlines-livery but with Alaska Horizon-titles.
Next to the 31 ERJ175s, the fleet consists of sixteen DHC-8-400s.
