Alliance Airlines retires Fokker 50s

On 14 August, Alliance Airlines conducted its final Fokker 50-flight. The last flight was performed by VH-FKZ (20286), which operated a thirty minute goodbye-flight from Adelaide, with staff and kids onboard. On 8 August, the airline already announced it has sold its last five Fokker 50s (and all engines and spare parts) to an unknown operator.

Alliance Airlines' relation with the turboprop started back in February 2007, when it took delivery of its first Fokker 50. In total, the airline operated seven Fokker 50s:

  • VH-FKO (20160), 33-years old, delivered in August 2012, and retired and stored at Adelaide in March 2021. Sold to the unknown operator.
  • VH-FKP (20161), 27-years old, acquired by the airline in August 2009 for parts, and was scrapped completely in April 2016. Never flown for the airline.
  • VH-FKV (20303), 28-years old, delivered in June 2008, and retired and stored at Adelaide in April 2021. Sold to the unknown operator.
  • VH-FKW (20306), 27-years old, delivered in June 2008, and retired in August 2022. Sold to the unknown operator.
  • VH-FKX (20312), 26-years old, delivered in August 2007, retired in March 2020, and stored at Adelaide since then. Sold to the unknown operator.
  • VH-FKY (20284), 29-years old, delivered in February 2007, retired in December 2014, and has been stored at Adelaide ever since and will be scrapped.
  • VH-FKZ (20286), 29-years old, delivered in April 2007, and retired in August 2022. Sold to the unknown operator.

Next to the Fokker 50s, Alliance also operates the world's largest fleet of Fokker 70s and 100s, with a total of fourteen Fokker 70s and 25 Fokker 100s. It also operates 25 Embraer ERJ190s, which will, in time, replace the Fokkers.
