American Airlines eyes new narrowbody order
Bloomberg is reporting that American Airlines is in negotiations with both Airbus and Boeing about a new narrowbody-order. According to the news-outlet the deal could be for up to 200 new aircraft, which will be used to replace older aircraft in the fleet. Under consideration are either, or both, the A321neo and B737MAX. Today, the airline still has open orders for 54 A321neos and 81 B737-8s.
The American Airlines narrowbody-fleet is currently made-up of 133 A319s (nineteen years old on average), 48 A320s (22 years old), 218 A321s (eleven years old), 70 A321neos (two years old), 303 B737-800s (thirteen years old), and 51 B737-8s (four years old).
