British Airways decides to save another B747-400 from scrapping
British Airways has decided to save another B747-400 from scrapping. The particular aircraft involved is G-CIVW, which was ferried from Cardiff to Dunsfold Aerodrome on 22 October.
The Jumbojet will retain its British Airways-livery and will be used as a film set and for trainings and events. The plan is to also open the aircraft to the public on a regular basis.
Earlier this month it became clear that B747-400 G-CIVB, flying in the Negus-livery, was also to be spared from dismantling and will be preserved at Kemble.
Dunsfold Aerodrome is not unfamiliar with the B747 as B747-200 G-BDXJ has been a longterm-resident at the field for years and could often be seen in episodes of Top Gear.
