Another new B777P2F-provider

A third company has announced it's planning to offer passenger-to-cargo conversions (P2F) for the B777. The company, Kansas Modification Center, has teamed-up with NIAR WERX, a division of Kansas State University and is based at Wichita (KS). The program is called the B777-300ERCF and the aim is to have the P2F-conversion certified by the end of 2023.

The first B777-300ER to be converted is N118DS (37704), which is owned by Dr. Peters Group and was previously registered 9H-AIL (December 2020-November 2021) and before that in use with Emirates as A6-ECL.

It's first customer is Backbone Freighter Leasing, a new division of the Dr. Peters Group, which is an asset management firm. The company signed a firm order for three B777-300ERCFs, which are slated for delivery in 2024 and 2025. Backbone also secured options on another seven B777-300ERCFs with a deliveries between 2025-2027.

With its conversion program, KMC is going head-to-head with IAI and Mammoth Freighters, which are also offering B777-300ER P2F-conversions.
