Arajet signs leases for additional MAXs
On 23 February 2025, BOC Aviation announced it has ordered five more Boeing B737-8s with Boeing. At the same time, the lessor announced it has signed an agreement with Arajet from the Dominican Republic to place these five with the airline. The MAXs are expected to be delivered in 2026 and 2027.
Arajet was founded as the successor of Dominican Wings in 2021 and launched operations in 2022. It has its main operating bases at Santo Domingo and Punta Cana. From there the low-cost airline flies to 22 destinations in Argentina, Aruba, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Curaçao, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and Sint Maarten.
Currently, the airline's fleet is made-up of ten Boeing B737-8s. Next to the five it will receive from BOC, it also has open orders with Boeing for seventeen B737MAXs.
