Astral Aviation expanding with new types

Astral Aviation from Kenya is planning to renew and expand its fleet with various new aircraft in the coming years.

During the Farnborough Air Show, Embraer announced that Nordic Aviation Capital, the launch customer of the E190/E195 Passenger-to-Freighter (P2F) conversion programme of Embraer, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kenyan carrier for two E190Fs.

Next to these smaller jets, Astral Aviation also signed a Letter of Intent with EFW for two A321-200P2Fs and four A330-300P2Fs. It's also interested in leasing two A330-200Fs. The A321-200P2Fs and A330-300P2Fs should be delivered between 2023 and 2025.

Astral Aviation is also in talks with AerCap for the lease of four B777-300ERSFs, which it wants to use on cargo-flights between Nairobi and Europe from 2024 or 2025 onwards.

Today, the airline is operating a fleet of one B727-200F, two B747-400Fs (wet-leased from Air Atlanta Icelandic) and one B767-200F. Four B757-200Fs are currently on order and expected to be delivered later this year.
