Atlas Air will take over three ex Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747-400s

MSN 32339 (line #1275) G-VROM will become N481MC and MSN 32340 (line #1277) G-VROY will become N482MC.

Both aircraft were delivered to Virgin in spring 2001 and were withdrawn from use (WFU) in March this year. G-VROM had been stored at Manchester and London-Heathrow and flew to Marana (AZ) on 4 October 2020 for pre-delivery maintenance.

G-VROY had been stored since its WFU date at London-Heathrow, Glasgow and Manchester, before it flew to Ciudad Real in Spain on 24 June 2020, where it is still in storage as of today.

Besides these two aircraft, of which we know their future Atlas registrations, ex Virgin MSN 30885 (line #1268) G-VROS is also due to go to Atlas Air. Although we cannot confirm it yet, it will most likely become N483MC. The aircraft is currently stored at London-Heathrow.

The three aircraft will be leased by Atlas Air from GECAS and will be used for passenger services.
