As part of its post-Chapter 11 plan and fleet renewal programme, Avianca has announced it has reached an agreement with Airbus for an order for 88 A320neo-family aircraft. The deal also includes 50 options and the new aircraft are set to be delivered between 2025 and 2031. The A320neos will be used to replace older Airbuses in the fleet as well as for expansion.
Today, Avianca operates a fleet of 142 aircraft, consisting of six ATR72s (to be retired), 22 A319s, 72 A320s, fifteen A320neos, two A321s, eleven A330-200s (to be retired), thirteen B787-8s and one B787-9.
