BA announces start of Gatwick-subsidiary

British Airways has announced that its new London-Gatwick subsidiary is set to launch flights on 29 March 2022. The subsidiary, BA Euroflyer, will operate in a similar way as BA CityFlyer does from London-City Airport. The bookings, aircraft and operations will be fully BA-branded but operated by the new subsidiary with a lower cost base than mainline BA.

The subsidiary has been set-up by British Airways to be able to compete with the many low-cost airlines operating out of Gatwick. Although the plans were intitially rejected by unions, all parties involved were able to reach an agreement clearing the way for EuroFlyer.

Initially, BA Euroflyer will launch with three Airbus A320-family aircraft in March but will quickly ramp up to eighteen planes by the end of May next year. In total, BA Euroflyer will serve 35 destinations in Croatia, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, Morocco, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Turkey from London-Gatwick during next year's summer season.
