An Embraer Bandeirante of Manaus Aerotáxi (PT-SOG, msn 110490) was destroyed when it was involved in an accident at Barcelos Airport, Amazonas. The two pilots and twelve passengers perished in the accident. All the passengers were Brazilian.
The aircraft was landing at Barcelos Airport in heavy rain and bad weather conditions when it aborted the landing and attempted a go-around, but crashed into the ground at the end of the runway.
“The passengers were going to the location to practice recreational fishing and the crash occurred due to bad weather. It was raining heavily at the time of landing,” according to CNN Brasil.
This Embraer had always carried the same registration, ever since it was first manufactured in August 1990.
