Blue Air suspends operations

As of 7 September 2022, Blue Air has been forced to suspend all operations after the Romanian Ministry of Environment seized all accounts of the airline. According to the airline, the suspension is temporary until 12 September. Romanian news-outlets are, however, reporting that the future of Blue Air is looking very bleak.

Earlier in July, the Romanian consumer authority fined the airline for too many flight cancellations and adviced customers not to book with the airline. As a result, bookings dropped and suppliers demanded pre-payments, depleting the airline's funds.

Blue Air ensured that the complete fleet returned to Romania on 6 September 2022, where it now remains parked at Bacau, Bucharest-Otopeni, Cluj and Iasi. In total, the airline operated two Boeing B737-500s, one B737-700, six B737-800s and five B737-8s.
