Bluebird Nordic leases B777-300ERs
Icelandic news outlet Morgunblaðið is reporting that Bluebird Nordic is adding widebody capacity in the form of the B777-300ER. The company has secured leases for three B777-300ERs, with the first already registered in the Icelandic register. The aircraft, TF-BBB (37705), was registered on 4 January and was previously operated by Emirates as A6-ECN. It's currently owned by lessor GTLK and parked at Marana (AZ) since February 2021.
Bluebird plans to have the three aircraft converted into full freighters by 2024. Until conversion spots are available, the airline will use the aircraft as phreighters as well as for (VIP) passenger-flights.
Since Bluebird was acquired by the Avia Solutions Group, the airline is on a massive expansion plan which sees it taking delivery of 25 B737-800SFs until 2024. The first of these was delivered in October last year. The Avia Solutions Group is also the owner of Avion Express and SmartLynx.
