Boeing halts B787-deliveries, again

The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) has, again, instructed Boeing to halt all Boeing B787-deliveries until further notice. According to the agency in a statement on 24 February 2023, it has decided so after Boeing reported to them an analysis error by supplier Spirit AeroSystems concerning the forward pressure bulkhead. Although there's no immediate danger to aircraft currently in service, deliveries are only allowed to continue once the FAA is convinced about Boeing's proposal to address the issue.

Boeing said in a statement that the halting of deliveries will only impact "near-term deliveries" but that the manufacturer maintains its outlook for the number of produced and deliveries of Dreamliners this year. Despite this, Boeing shares fell around 2,6% after the news broke.

Various spotter-sites already noticed that something was up with the deliveries of B787s as no delivery had taken place since 26 January 2023. Deliveries of the B787 were resumed on 8 August 2022 after a year and a month long pause due to various production and safety issues. According to Boeing, the new issue is unrelated to the previous ones.
