Carpatair retires final Fokker 100
On 29 November 2023, Romanian carrier Carpatair retired its final Fokker 100. The occassion wasn't only important for the airline but also for the aviation history of Europe, as Carpatair was the last airline to use the type for passenger flights. The aircraft involved was Fokker 100 YR-FKB (11369), which was send off with a special ceremony.
Carpatair operated six different Fokkers over the years, three Fokker 100s and three Fokker 70s. These were:
- Fokker 100 YR-FKA (11340), in service between June 2006-August 2020 and now stored at Arad, Romania
- Fokker 100 YR-FKB (11369), in service between July 2006-November 2023 and now stored at Woensdrecht
- Fokker 100 YR-FZA (11395), in service between April 2010-September 2023 and now stored at Woensdrecht as 2-RFZA without titles
- Fokker 70 YR-KMA (11564), in service between January 2010-October 2012 and now in use with Alliance Airlines
- Fokker 70 YR-KMB (11565), in service between February 2010-December 2012 and now in use with Alliance Airlines
- Fokker 70 YR-KMC (11569), in service between June 2010-December 2012 and now in use with Alliance Airlines
The final operator for the Fokker 100 in Europe is now the government of Slovakia, which has two of the type in use.
