Cessna celebrates 8,000th Citation-delivery
On 8 February, Textron Aviation announced that it's Cessna-division celebrated the 8,000th Citation-delivery. The aircraft in question is a Cessna 700 Citation Longtitude, registered N50MG (700-0065), delivered to ScottsMiracle-Gro, a Marysville (OH) based multi-national. It's owner is a former F-16 pilot, hence the rather military-looking livery on the aircraft.
The Citation-story began in October 1968, when Cessna announced the Fanjet 500, an eight-seat light business aircraft, capable of operating out airfields where light twins could also operate out of. The first prototype flew on 15 September 1969 and certification was achieved on 9 September 1971. A total of 689 Citation Is were built between 1971-1985.
Today, Cessna is producing the Citation M2 Gen2, Citation CJ3+, Citation CJ4 Gen2, Citation XLS Gen2, Citation Latitude and Citation Longtitude.
