Chorus to acquire Falko
A large consolidation in the regional aircraft leasing business is set to take place as Chorus Aviation has announced it plans to acquire Falko Regional Aircraft. The deal, worth 855 million USD, will establish a lessor managing a portfolio of 353 aircraft, all regional aircraft.
Chorus Aviation is an offspring of ACE Aviation Holdings (the former holding company of Air Canada) and was founded in 2006. It's headquarter is at Halifax. From the beginning, the company owned Jazz Airways, operating regional aircraft for Air Canada. Since then, the company has developed into a maintenance, leasing and holding company, also adding Canadian air charter company Voyageur Airways in 2015.
Falko Regional Aircraft is owned by the Fortress Investment Group, which took over BAe Asset Management in 2011, including the aviation portfolio. Since then, the company has grown from managing Avro RJs and BAe146s to turboprops and regional jets from other manufacturers. The company has its main office at Hatfield, which once was the site where British Aerospace had its offices.
