Delta mulls new Airbus widebody order

Both Reuters and Bloomberg have been reporting that Delta Air Lines is in discussion with Airbus for a "sizeable" order for new widebody aircraft. According to Bloomberg, the order is for "dozens" of new aircraft, and will be for both the A330neo as well as the A350. A deal is not finalized yet but we wouldn't be surprised it will be announced during the upcoming Paris Air Show in June.

Delta Air Lines is seeking new widebody aircraft to replace its ageing fleet of 66 Boeing 767s, which consists of 45 B767-300ERs (average 27 years old), and 21 B767-400ERs (average 22 years old). Next to the B767s, the airline's current longhaul-fleet consists of eleven A330-200s, 31 A330-300s, 22 A330-900s, and 28 A350-900s.
