Deutsche Aircraft secures 1st order
On 16 May 2023, during the ground-breaking ceremony for its new final assembly line at Leipzig-Halle, Deutsche Aircraft announced it has secured its first orders for the new D328eco as Private Wings has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) for five D328ecos.
Private Wings, which is based at Berlin and Ingolstadt is a company specialized in corporate shuttles and charter flights for events and sports teams. It currently operates a fleet of one Beech 1900D, nine Do328-100s, and a single Do328JET.
The D328eco is planned to fly for the first time in 2024, with full scale production expected to take place in 2025 at its new assembly plant at Leipzig-Halle. Compared to the Do328-100, the D328eco will feature a stretched fuselage, enabling to carry up to 43 passengers, ten more the Do328 can carry today. It will feature new Pratt & Whitney PW127S-engines that will also be able to run on sustainable aviation fuel. Next to a standard passenger-variant, Deutsche Aircraft is also planning to develop multi-role versions, including an aerial firefighter.
Deutsche Aircraft is partly owned by the Sierra Nevada Corporation and supported by the German government and 328 Support Services GmbH, a Sierra Nevada owned entity, which is holder of the Dornier 328 type-certificate.
