Embraer joins the freighter market
As the global demand for cargo rises Embraer announced their plans to convert Embraer 190/195s to freighters. These models are foreseen to fill the capacity gap left between the ATR72-500F and the B737-300F.
The conversion of passenger to cargo modification will be performed by Embraer itself, incorporating the large cargo door installation and reinforcing the current floor structures.
The first deliveries are expected in 2024 and according to Embraer statistics 380 Embraer 190s and 90 Embraer 195s are suitable for the conversion, as they have exceeded their ten-year life span.
Six large ULD containers can be loaded in the E190F with two smaller units to fill the gaps in between the ULDs. The E195F can hold seven large ULD containers and also two smaller units.
The range for the freighters will be 2,100 nautical miles for the E195F and 2,300 nautical miles for the smaller E190F.
