Emirates to add more converted B777-300ERs
According to our friends at CargoFacts, Emirates has decided to increase its order for Passenger-to-Freighter (P2F) converted B777-300ERs. In November last year, the airline announced it had signed a deal with IAI for four B777-300ERSFs with a number of unspecified options. And now, Emirates has decided to convert another six of its B777-300ERs into freighters, bringing the total to ten. It's, however, unclear if these six conversions are the options the airline had with IAI or with another supplier of conversions like Mammoth. The first four B777-300ERSFs are scheduled for delivery in 2023 and 2024, while the remaining six will arrive until 2026.
Emirates' cargo-fleet today consists of eleven newly built B777Fs, with one additional unit on order. Two of these are, however, scheduled to be returned to their lessor when the first four B777-300ERSFs start to arrive. This means that by 2026, Emirates will have a fleet of 20 dedicated freighters, consisting of ten B777Fs and ten B777-300ERSFs.
