Eurowings Malta receives AOC and AOL

On 13 October 2022, Eurowings received its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) and -Licence (AOL) for its new Maltese subsidiary. Officially called Eurowings Europe Limited, the new subsidiary of Eurowings will replace Eurowings Europe GmbH, which was based in Austria. The first aircraft that will be registered by the airline in Malta will be Airbus A320 9H-EUL (3093), which is now still registered as D-ABDP. The first flight is set to be operated next month.

By April 2023, Eurowings will have transferred all of its Austrian-registered aircraft to Malta. Today, Eurowings Europe flies with six A319s and thirteen A320s.

With this launch, Eurowings remains operating three different entities. The other two are the "main" Eurowings airline, based in Germany (operating 31 A319s, 53 A320s, six A320neos and two B737-800s) and Eurowings Discover, also based in Germany (operating seven A320s, three A330-200s and eight A330-300s).
