First Lithuanian aircraft lands Down Under
The honour of the first LY registered aircraft to touch down in Australia fell to GetJet Airlines Airbus A330 LY-LEO (msn 769), when it landed at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (NSW) on Sunday 23 January, at 13:07hrs LT. It had flown for 8 hours and 49 minutes from Hong Kong, as GW734.
During the pandemic, this wide-body aircraft (operated by China Airlines from July 2006 till February 2019) was modified from passenger to freighter with 0 LOPA (Layout of Passenger Accommodations) configuration, allowing the airline to operate cargo in-cabin flights. The aircraft carried tons of Rapid Antigen Tests.
