flyadeal plots expansion with widebodies
The CEO of Saudia low-cost subsidiary flyadeal has said during the 2024 Routes World Conference in Bahrain that the airline is plotting expansion of the fleet by placing an order for new widebody aircraft before the end of this year.
According to the CEO, both the Airbus A330-900 and the Boeing B787 are in the running. The A350 and B777X have both been ruled-out as being too big for the airline that is currently only operating narrowbody Airbuses. He elaborated that both the A330-900 and the B787 could work well in the airline. The Airbus as its an easy transition for its pilots, the Dreamliner because of the experience mother Saudia has with the type.
flyadeal launched operations in 2017 and has a fleet that is made-up of eleven A320s and 24 A320neos. Mother Saudia holds open orders for the low-cost unit with Airbus for an additional nineteen A320neos and 39 A321neos.
