flydubai goes big with a B787-order

An unexpected order was announced by flydubai on the first day of the 2023 Dubai Air Show on 13 November. The airline, which has only operated narrowbody Boeing B737s, has decided to go big with an order for 30 B787-9s.

According to the press-statement, flydubai is going to use the Dreamliners to "open up new routes and grow capacity on existing routes". No delivery timeline has, so far, been communicated.

Today, flydubai is operating a fleet of 30 B737-800s, 47 B737-8s, and three B737-9s. It has 136 remaining MAXs on order.
