Flyr applies for bankruptcy

Norwegian carrier Flyr has unfortunately been forced to call it quits after it was unable to raise new funds to continue to operate. As a result of the lack of money, the airline has been forced to cease all operations and apply for bankruptcy.

In October 2022, the airline already announced it would reduce its operations with 50% to conserve money and to position itself for a ramp-up in the summer season of 2023. Unfortunately, this plan failed.

Flyr was founded in August 2020 and launched operations on 30 June 2021. It started as a domestic carrier but also served international (charter) destinations in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the UK. Since the launch the fleet has grown to eleven aircraft, consisting of five B737-800 and six B737-8s. All these aircraft are currently parked at Olso-Gardermoen.
