For sale: 2 former Iraqi Jumbojets
FlightGlobal is reporting that Iraqi Airways is set to auction two Boeing B747s that have been stored in Tunisia for a long time. The Jumbojets involved are Government B747SP-70 YI-ALM (22858) and Iraqi Airways B747-270C YI-AGP (22366).
Both aircraft made an escape during the first Gulf War in February 1991 from Baghdad to Tozeur-Nefta in Tunisia and have remained there ever since. Over the years, they lost their Iraqi-colors and are now mainly all white. They aren't in a flyable condition and, according to the Flight-article, are estimated to be worth almost 500,000 US dollars per plane.
Should you be interested, please let Iraqi Airways know! The date for the auction is set for 16 August 2023 and you need to pay within seven days of winning the auction.
