GlobalX Airlines to add B717s

Miami (FL)-based GlobalX Airlines is set to add the Boeing B717 to its growing fleet, which today consists of only Airbuses. The airline has posted several job-ads for B717-mechanics and -pilots. According to various sources GlobalX is leasing ten B717s from Boeing Capital, which are all former Volotea Airlines and currently parked at Victorville (CA). Delivery of the first B717 is expected to take place in October already.

Once delivered, GlobalX will be only the fourth aline in the world to operate the B717. Currently, only Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines and QantasLink fly the type.

Today, GlobalX operates a fleet of seven aircraft, consiting of six Airbus A320s and one A321. The airline is also planning to add twenty passenger-to-freighter converted A321s in the coming years. Recently, GlobalX announced it signed an ACMI-agreement with Avianca, for which the US-airline will operate up to five A321P2Fs.
