Hawaiian increases and pushes back B787-order

In a filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Hawaiian Airlines has announced it has ordered two additional B787-9s with Boeing. The airline also said it has pushed delivery of its Dreamliner-orders, which now totals twelve B787s.

Hawaiian Airlines ordered ten B787-9s in 2018 as a replacement for its canceled order for six Airbus A330-800s. Originally, the first B787 was scheduled for delivery in the last quarter of last year but the paused production and deliveries of B787s prevented that from happening.

The airline is now expecting to take delivery of its first B787-9 in the last quarter of this year, with three to follow in 2024. The remaining eight will be delivered until 2027.

The B787s will be used by Hawaiian Airlines to replace its oldest Airbus A330-200s, of which it currently operates 24. Next to this, the airline is flying with eighteen A321neos, and nineteen B717-200s.
