IAG in talks for new British Airways-widebody order
Bloomberg News and Reuters are reporting that the International Airline Group (IAG) has launched official talks with Airbus and Boeing regarding an order for new widebody aircraft for British Airways. According to the news-outlets, the order would be for at least 20 new aircraft, which will be used to replace the airline's oldest Boeing B777-200ERs. On average, these are now 23 years old.
Currently, British Airways is operating a widebody-fleet that is consisting of sixteen A350-1000s, twelve A380s, 43 B777-200ERs, sixteen B777-300ERs, twelve B787-8s, eighteen B787-9s, and seven B787-10s. It has outstanding orders for two A350-1000s, eighteen B777-9s, and five B787-10s.
