Icelandair set to retire B757-300s
Icelandair has announced it's set to retire its two Boeing B757-300s in the fleet by the end of October. The final flight for the type is scheduled for 29 October 2024, flying from London-Heathrow to Keflavik.
The aircraft, TF-FIX (29434) and TF-ISX (30179) are almost 24 years old. TF-FIX was delivered new to the airline in March 2002, while TF-ISX joined in March 2018 after a career in Israel with Arkia.
Icelandair is starting the replacement of its venerable Boeing B757-fleet in November when it takes delivery of its first Airbus A321neo. Next to its two B757-300s, the airline still has eleven B757-200s in the fleet.
The retirement of the B757-300 by Icelandair also means one airline less operating this rather rare type. Of the 1,050 B757s built, only 55 have been -300s. Remaining operators of the type are (for now) Condor, Delta Air Lines, SkyLine Express, and United Airlines.
