ITA Airways welcomes 1st Airbus A220
On 10 October, ITA Airways welcomed its first Airbus A220 at its base at Rome-Fiumicino. The A220-300 EI-HHI (55168) arrived there after a short jump from Naples where it received post-delivery maintenance as well as its livery. It had arrived at Naples on 2 September after a ferry-flight from Toulouse-Blagnac. The aircraft is featuring the white "born to be sustainable"-livery.
This aircraft is the first of four A220s ITA Airways is expecting this year, all leased from Air Lease Corporation. In total, the airline is planning to operate 22 A220s, fifteen A220-300s leased via ALC and seven A220-100s directly from Airbus.
ITA Airways is set to launch commercial operations with its new type on 16 October and plans to use it, initially, on flights from Rome-Fiumicino to Genua, Geneva, Munich, Napels and Zurich.
