Japan Airlines welcomes 1st B767-300ERBCF

On 17 January 2024, the first converted Boeing B767-300ERBCF for Japan Airlines was delivered. The aircraft, JA653J (40365) arrived at Tokyo-Narita from Singapore-Seletar where the aircraft had been under conversion since August last year.

The aircraft is the first of two B767-300ERBCFs the airline has decided to convert. The second one, JA654J (40366), is currently undergoing conversion and should be ready for delivery in the next two months.

Japan Airlines has recently signed a cooperation with DHL and will partially use the freighter's capacity for the logistics company. For now, the plan is to operate the duo from Tokyo-Narita to Nagoya-Chubu, Seoul-Incheon, Shanghai-Pudong, and Taipei-Taoyuan.

The airline had retired its last dedicated freighters, six Boeing B747-400s, back in 2010.
