Jet2 orders A321neo
Last July, we reported that Jet2 was in talks with both Airbus and Boeing regarding an order for new aircraft. On 31 August, Jet2 announced it has ordered 36 A321neos with Airbus. The airline also secured purchase options on another 24 aircraft. Delivery of the 36 planes is scheduled between 2023 and 2028.
The low-cost airline will outfit the aircraft with 232 seats in a single class lay-out. Jet2 will use the A321neos as replacement for its last eight B757s as well as replacement and upgrading capacity of its (oldest) B737s in the fleet. It currently has seven B737-300s and 75 B737-800s in the fleet.
