JetBlue celebrates 25 years with special livery
JetBlue is celebrating 25 years of flying with festivities, giveaways, a sale, and the introduction of a new special livery. Named "BlueUnity", the livery honors and recognises the airline's 23,000 co-workers. It's applied to Airbus A321-231 N970JB (7415), which was unveiled at New York-JFK on 11 February and entered service the same day.
The low-cost carrier was founded in August 1998 and launched its first flights on 11 February 2000. It modeled itself as Southwest Airlines but with some additional amenities to set itself apart like having in-flight entertainment in every seat.
Flights were launched with the Airbus A320. Later, the airline added the Embraer ERJ190 to operate from smaller markets. Over the years, the airline has grown to a 290-strong fleet, flying over 1,000 flights a day to 114 destinations. It has its main hubs at Boston (MA), Fort Lauderdale (FL), New York-JFK (NY), Orlando (FL), and San Juan.
JetBlue's 290-strong fleet breaks down into 44 A220-300s, 130 A320s, 63 A321-200s, 37 A321neos, and sixteen ERJ190s.
