Jubba Airways Fokker 50 crashes during landing
On 18 July 2022, coming in from Baidoa, Somalia, the Jubba Airways Fokker 50 (5Y-JXN, msn 20239) landed on Mogadishu-Aden Adde International Airport 's runway 05, Somalia, flipped over, the left wing broke off, the right wing tip fractured, and eventually the right wing burst into flames.
Luckily all three crew members and 33 passengers were able to evacuate before the fire was extinguished.
Due to the critical political situation in Somalia landings are conducted only on runway 05 and departures only on runway 23 (and accordingly, only instrument standard arrival routes to runway 05 and instrument standard departure routes from runway 23 are being published).
This is the second incident involving a Fokker 50 in Africa, as on 16 July 2022, 5Y-JSN of ICON Aviation suffered damage after landing at South Sudan's Rubkona Airport. The exact ID of that Fokker still needs confirmation.
