Korean Air A330 accident at Cebu
On 23 October 2022, Korean Air flight KE631, from Seoul-Incheon International Airport, South Korea, to Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Philippines, and operated by A330-300 HL7525 (219) suffered a runway excursion after landing on runway 22.
The approach was made in poor weather conditions and the Korean Airbus aborted the first approach at 22:12 hours local time. The flight crew positioned for a second approach, which was aborted at 22:26, shortly after crossing the runway threshold. It then entered a holding pattern for about thirty minutes, before a third approach was attempted.
At 23:08 the aircraft touched down on runway 22 and overran the end of the runway at about eighty knots over the ground. It came to a stop about 360 metres past the runway end, close to the airport perimeter fence.
No injuries were reported but the aircraft was damaged beyond repair, having received damage to of the nose gear, to the nose underbelly and penetrations to the cockpit.
