LOT to issue new RFP for regional jets
The Polish Ministry of State Assets has announced it will issue a formal Request of Proposal (RFP) to both Airbus and Embraer in which it seeks to order new regional jets. It's expected that the official RFP will be sent out in April, with a final decision later this year.
According to the Ministry, the airline is seeking to order 84 regional jets and will decide between the A220 and the E2-series. They will be used to replace the airline's current fleet of five ERJ170s, thirteen ERJ175s, eight ERJ190s, and fifteen ERJ195s.
This isn't the first time the airline has issued a RFP in which it seeks new jets. In 2022, LOT also issued a RFP but that process never materialized in an order.
Earlier this year, LOT secured the acquistion of eleven additional Boeing B737-8s, which should all be delivered before the summer of 2025.
LOT's fleet, apart from the Embraers, is currently made-up of six B737-800s, eleven B737-8s, eight B787-8s, and seven B787-9s.
