Malaysia Airlines orders A330neos

Malaysia Airlines has selected the Airbus A330-900 to replace its current fleet of A330s. In total the airline has ordered ten A330neos directly with Airbus and another ten will be leased via Avolon. The ones directly ordered with Airbus are also sold and will be leased-back to and from Avolon as well. First delivery is expected to take place in 2024.

Today, Malaysia Airlines operates a fleet of nine A330-200s and fifteen A330-300s. Next to this, the airline also has six A350-900s, six A380-800s (these are parked) and 44 Boeing B737-800s.
