The new incarnation of Mexicana has selected the Embraer E2 for its needs and has signed an agreement with Embraer for 20 new aircraft. The order is evenly split between the E190E2 and E195E2, meaning ten of each are ordered. Deliveries of the new aircraft are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2025.
Mexicana relaunched operations on 26 December 2023 and is completely owned and operated by the Mexican Air Force. The airline is currently only operating domestic flights and flies to eighteen destinations. Since its inception, it has carried more than 115,000 passengers with its fleet of three Boeing B737-800s and two (leased) Embraer ERJ145s.
