New start-up: SUA Líneas Aéreas
Uruguay is set to have its own flag-carrier again with the launch of Sociedad Uruguaya de Aviación, which will operate as SUA Líneas Aéreas. The airline is planning to start later this year and has signed a strategic partnership with airBaltic to secure this.
airBaltic will operate, initially, up to five Airbus A220-300s for the airline and will also support with other start-up activities like pilot-training, IT, and automation. Later, the airline has ambition to operate its own aircraft and grow the fleet to up to ten aircraft.
SUA Líneas Aéreas will have Montevideo as its home base and from there is planning to fly to domestic and international destinations in Argentina, Brazil and Chile.
