Nordic Aviation Group files for bankruptcy
On 20 November 2024, the Nordic Aviation Group announced it is set to file for bankruptcy and cease all operations effective immediately. A potential sales deal to an investor fell through, leaving bankruptcy as the only way forward.
Nordic Aviation Group was established in 2015 and was the holding company for Nordica and Xfly. The latter company was operating as a provider of Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) operations. Its biggest customer, SAS, decided to cancel its contract with Xfly in favor of a contract with BRA, resulting in direct financial difficulties.
The fleet of the Nordic Aviation Group was at the time of bankruptcy made-up of six ATR72-600s, one Airbus A320, and eight CRJ900s.
