Northern Pacific Airways unveils 1st aircraft
At an event at San Bernardino Airport (CA), start-up Northern Pacific Airways has unveiled its first aircraft in the airline's livery: Boeing B757-200 N627NP (27808). In the coming weeks, the aircraft will be outfitted with a new cabin after which it will be flown to the airline's base at Anchorage (AK).
Northern Pacific Airways has so far acquired six B757-200s and plans to grow to a fleet of twelve B757-200s later on. The new airline is planning to connect cities in the US with Asia, via Anchorage. Cities targeted in the US will be in California, Florida, Nevada, New York and Texas, while the proposed destinations in Asia will initially be Osaka, Seoul and Tokyo.
During the event, the CEO of the airline also said that they are looking beyond the B757 and might consider the Boeing B737MAX or Airbus A320neo-families as potential successors as well as expanding with widebodies.
An exact launch date hasn't been announced yet but the Northern Pacific is working towards a launch in the third quarter of this year.
