Porter Airlines increases E195-E2 order

At the Farnborough Air Show on 19 July, Porter Airlines and Embraer announced that they signed a deal for a firm order for 30 additional E195-E2s. With this order, the Canadian airline now has 50 E195-E2s on order and 50 additional purchase rights, making it the largest customer for the type.

Porter Airlines signed-up for the E195-E2 in 2019, ordering 20 aircraft and plans to welcome its first jet before the end of this year. The airline today operates a fleet of 29 DHC-8-400s and is based at Toronto-Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. The Embraers, however, are too large to be operated out of this airport and will instead be used from Toronto-Pearson, as well as Halifax, Montreal and Ottawa. The arrival of the jet-fleet will see Porter Airlines expand its operations from domestic now to also include international destinations in the Caribbean, Mexico and the US.
