Porter Airlines orders E195-E2
Porter Airlines has announced a large expansion plan that includes a firm order for 30 E195-E2s with purchase options on another 50. The order was previously booked and reported by Embraer this year as an undisclosed order. An interesting detail is that the airline previously held a commitment for 30 A220s, which the company has now confirmed has been canceled with Airbus.
Deliveries are set to start in the second half of next year and the airline is planning to operate them from Halifax, Montréal, Ottawa and Toronto-Pearson to popular leisure and business destinations in Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico and the United States.
Porter Airlines was founded in 2006 and has its home at Toronto-Billy Bishop City Airport. It has a fleet of 29 DHC-8-400s, which are currently all parked due to the Corona-pandemic. The airline expects to resume operations by September.
